What Are You Reading? 04/07/25

We’re all about the graphic novels right now – we just can’t seem to get enough of them! We burned through all the InvestiGATORS novels, and the spin-off series Agents of S.U.I.T, but we haven’t stopped there!

We read three Pepper & Boo novels, which my son thoroughly enjoyed – Paws Up For Joy was apparently his favourite of the three.

My son loves bunnies, so BunBun and BonBon was another hit – he enjoyed the cute illustrations and the zany characters.

We followed that up another zany duo – Narwhal and Jelly, in their first book, Narwhal : Unicorn of the Sea. My son loved it so much that I immediately placed holds on the rest of the books in the series!

Finally, we read another book featuring another duo – this time starring Shelby and Watts, a mystery-solving pair inspired by Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Shelby & Watts : Tide Pool Troubles included some fun facts about tide pools and ocean critters, which was a nice touch!

So, all in all it was a busy week of graphic novel reading, with a sprinkling of our usual rock and mineral nonfiction titles here and there, too.

Have a great reading week, everyone!

My grandkids are all about the graphic novels these days too. The Narwal books were a big hit with the older ones. The two younger ones are still 4, so I expect they will become fans soon. I’m irked that the Pepper and Boo series isn’t available at any of my libraries – not even as Ebooks!

My niece absolutely LOVES the Narwhal and Jelly series. I’m going to have to check out the others. Thanks for the suggestions!

I’m a MG/YA writer with a rather sizeable plaid shirt collection. My partner is always commenting on how I don’t need another one, but of course I do!

And really, “need” is such an open-ended word anyway. I might not physically or practically need another cardigan, but what about my emotional needs?? 😉

Shelby & Watts was cute. I can’t remember how many of them there are in the series.
