“Getting to know you, getting to know all about you…..”

I recently discovered the fun book tag in which bloggers use books to highlight different aspects of themselves, as a way of introducing themselves to their readers. Because I’m a loose cannon who doesn’t play by the rules I will be changing things up a wee bit  – I never like tagging specific people when I do tags and prefer to encourage anyone who might want to try their hand at answering these question to do so. Credit for creating this tag goes to GoodeyReads, and I found the tag on The Reading Chemist. Thank you to both of these bloggers!

A Book Set Where You Are From (City, State, Country, Your Choice)

34227894. sy475

I am proudly Canadian, and one of the most famous Canadian-set novels of all time is, of course, Anne of Green Gables. Of course, Canada is a huge country, and I’m not from anywhere near Prince Edward Island (I live just about as far away from PEI as you can possibly get in Canada) , though I did get a chance to explore that beautiful province back in 2018.

A Book About Your Favorite Non-Bookish Hobby

A non-bookish hobby? Hmmm…this is a bit of a tough one, as my two biggest hobbies are reading and writing. Does being a geek count as a hobby? More specifically, I’m a total TV geek – I love watching anime, science fiction and fantasy TV shows, and while I don’t cosplay (because I can’t sew or make things to save my life), I do love watching cosplayers show off their craft on Youtube.

A Book About a Fear of Yours

The Spider

I am terrified of spiders. Absolutely terrified. Here’s a fun story – years ago my partner and I lived in a basement suite, and occasionally we would discover these traumatically big spiders. One evening as I was walking down the stairs to our unit I saw a gigantic, truly horrifying spiders on the wall. What did I do? I turned out the light. Yes, my first thought was that if I couldn’t see the spider, it couldn’t scare me.  My poor partner was not too thrilled at suddenly being plunged into darkness!

A Book About Something That Brings You Joy

My sweet little baby (who has discovered the joy of tantrums…) still brings me joy.

A Book About Your Career

39973

I am indeed a librarian! I’ve been a public librarian since 2014.

What job would you be terrible at?

22081680

I would make an utterly terrible accountant. I’m terrible with numbers, I get bored easily, have a very short attention span, don’t like working on my own, and don’t have the greatest attention to detail. It would just be bad news all around.

What’s a subject you wish you knew more about?

A Guide to Japanese Grammar: A Japanese Approach to Learning Japanese Grammar

I wish I could speak more languages fluently. I studied French and Spanish in high school, German in college and Japanese as an adult, but I am only passable at best in all of these languages, and really only fluent in English. I wish I was one of those magical polyglots who could converse in multiple languages, imagine all the books you could read in their original language!

In your opinion, what is the best day on the calendar and why?

7331

Christmas Day, because I love getting the family together and eating an incredible feast and then sitting around watching Christmas movies, it’s just the best day of the year.

What is the craziest item you spent way too much on?

I honestly can’t think of anything crazy I’ve spent too much money on. Am I judicious with my money? Not especially, but I don’t tend to buy extravagant things.

27883210

What’s a quirky thing you do?

I knock AND tap on wood. I’m not particularly superstitious, but for some reason I got into the habit of both knocking and tapping on wood whenever I’ve said something that I’m afraid will jinx me. I knock with my knuckles then tap with my fingers. I have no idea where it came from, I don’t even do it consciously anymore!

Well, that was very enjoyable, and hopefully it gave you a bit of insight into the woman behind the computer screen! If you decide to try this tag, please let me know, I’d love to read your responses.

Take care, friends!
