Writing Wednesday: My Dream Writing Space

November 20, 2019November 20, 2019 Jane the Raincity Librarian Post a comment

No better half.

I am currently typing up this blog post sitting cross-legged on my sofa, with my laptop resting on a blanket on my lap. To my right is a baby play mat strewn with toys. To my left is an eye-achingly colorful “jumperoo”. I can see my messy kitchen out of the corner of my eye, and I can hear the sounds of never-ending construction outside my window. This is my writing space.

It is not my dream writing space.

If, by some chance of fate, I could create my dream writing space, there are a few elements I’d have to include.

First of all, I would want plenty of natural light in my writing space. My apartment gets little sun and can feel quite gloomy, especially during the winter, and my dream writing space would simply glow with natural light flowing in from big windows.

Next, we would need to have some comfortable seating. If I’m going to be sitting on my bottom for a few hours typing away on my magnum opus, comfortable seating is an absolute necessity.

I would definitely add in some plants to add colour and life to the space and fill the air with blessed oxygen.

My colour scheme would be clean, bright and natural, with plenty of whites, greys and light woods. In other words, the complete opposite of my current living situation, which is littered with bright primary colours.

Oh, and we would definitely need plenty of hot beverages to keep the energy levels high and the inspiration flowing!

Some gentle ambient music would really help set the mood.

And wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone could clean the space for me every day, so that it would be fresh and clean and tidy every time I come in to write?

Oh, if only such a magical writing space could exist, how wonderful that would be! 😉

Have a great week, my writing friends, wherever you might be writing.
