Friday Favourites – October 9, 2015

October 9, 2015April 18, 2017 Jane the Raincity Librarian Post a comment

It’s Friday yet again! Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving?! Where does the time go?!

Here’s what I’ve been fascinated by this week:

I am devouring Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall, a absolutely gripping piece of Tudor-era historical fiction. I can’t wait to watch the miniseries!

Take a fascinating subway journey along London’s Victoria line and explore the incredible linguistic and cultural diversity of this cosmopolitan city.

The first fully-illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone hits shelves soon – meet Jim Kay, the artist responsible for bringing Harry to life for a new generation of Potter fans.

Check out this extensive selection of vintage Hollywood photographs for sale – some for over $1000.00!

Chocolate Chip Ghost Story - Free Printable

This free ghost printable from Sunflower Storytime is perfect for Halloween story times – a sweet introduction to colours, and not too spooky for young audiences.

Kara Wilson shares her thoughts on what constitutes real beauty.

Facebook has released “Reactions” -what are yours?

Happy Thanksgiving, to all my Canadian readers!

You are so very welcome, I think it’s such an important issue to highlight and talk about! I’m a passionate believer in encouraging young people to rethink society’s beauty stereotypes.
