Like so many people, I struggle with change. I understand that change is necessary, that it can bring new opportunities for growth, development and betterment. I appreciate change, I respect it, and I understand it.<\/p>\n

And still\u2026<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Change, for all its many benefits, is often uncomfortable, at times even frightening, whether you\u2019re two, twenty-two, or one-hundred-and-twenty-two.<\/p>\n

In times of stress or worry, I often find myself drawn to music, which is really just poetry with an instrumental background. Singer-songwriters have a special place in my heart \u2013 I\u2019ve write about one of my favourite singer-songwriters, Rodriguez<\/a>, and this Poetry Friday I\u2019m back with another incredibly talented poet whose songs have inspired countless listeners for decades.<\/p>\n

And so, for those of us who are facing changes in our lives, welcome or otherwise, here are some timeless words of wisdom from the incomparable singer-songwriter Carol King, from her song Beautiful:<\/em><\/p>\n

You\u2019ve got to get up every morning<\/em><\/h2>\n

With a smile in your face<\/em><\/h2>\n

And show the world all the love in your heart<\/em><\/h2>\n

Then people gonna treat you better<\/em><\/h2>\n

You\u2019re gonna find, yes you will<\/em><\/h2>\n

That you\u2019re beautiful, as you feel.<\/em><\/h2>\n
