Have you heard the expression “the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree”?
Well, I have photographic evidence to support the accuracy of this old chestnut – er – acorn.
The little acorn
Grabbing handfuls of bright bricks
Alongside the tree

We visited a local museum last weekend, and rather than learn about the important historical artifacts on display, both boys went straight to the LEGO building table to create impressive feats of blocky engineering.

Feast your eyes upon this amazing castle my son made, by carefully following the instructions in the LEGO manual. He was very proud.
Hopefully everyone has a wonderful week!
Our Poetry Friday host this week is Molly at Nix the Comfort Zone.
Three cheers for following your own path AND for following directions (if need be)!!
Aw, what a charming little acorn/architect! A talented Lego guy for sure! Your poem is so sweet, Jane. ❤️
Your photo is a perfect illustration for your poem! How fun that they both enjoy “the bright bricks” and can work side-by-side. 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!
“impressive feats of blocky engineering” indeed. Thanks for sharing your little acorns.
What fun! I miss our LEGO days.
Building together is such joy! You capture that in this photo and accompanying poem–love that acorn/tree imagery 🙂 Perfect!
Jane, what a sweet photo and acorn/oak poem! I love that they were building together. The castle is amazing. Kudos to your son!
OMG! That photo –and poem– is the BEST! I have one of my own of that tree/acorn pair –and joyously got to observe them in action this past week when my son and grandson visited!
I got a big batch of Legos for my grandchildren. I am amazed at the skills of my 6 year old. Legos are so creative and fun!
Jane, I am always impressed when children create lego art. Legos are popular in museums. My little grandgirls also gravitated to the lego section when in the town museum. Lego buildings also give children the opportunity to create a story from their creation.
