The snow has all melted and we’re backing to our regularly-scheduled rain here on the west coast, but we’ve got excellent rain gear, so we don’t mind! My son actually attended an outdoor preschool for two years, where he spent the morning outside rain or shine, so a little rain doesn’t get him down.
Luckily for any aspiring puddle jumpers, the weather forecast is calling for rain as far as the eye can see. Definitely worth investing in a good pair of wellies when you live in the Pacific Northwest!

It’s freezing cold in Syracuse New York. Glad you have good rain gear and I’m sure you have some good books to read. Waiting for spring!
I’m soooo glad our brief cold snap seems to be well and truly over!!!
Oh, that’s fun, Jane! My husband and I are going to Oregon soon for a family celebration, and we’re going to take a few days’ road trip too. We’ve never been to the Pacific Northwest before and are SO excited! It’s 12 degrees Fahrenheit right now in Minnesota with a wind chill of 0. That’s balmy compared to the past few days. And the sun is shining like a stage-hogging diva!
Oh, I spent many summer vacations on road trips down to Oregon! We loved the Oregon coast, and of course Portland, with my dad being quite the craft beer aficionado.
Lots of snow during the night but the temp is up, so melting quickly! It’ll be good and wet for snow people but the kids will need to work quickly. I love that your son went to an outdoor preschool, Jane! “Rainy days just can’t be beat” is something we rarely have in Denver. All snowy days sometimes! Have fun!
We had such a great experience at “forest school”, as we called it. Kids spend so much time inside these days, so it was nice for him to spend his early years outside in nature!

Your poem has so much movement and life, and the photograph makes it feel like I’m looking at a page of a picture book! This is delightful.
Amazing!! Cardigans are both practical AND stylish, they really are a must-have in any wardrobe!
Oh love this! We got a TON of rain last weekend and I saw lots of preschoolers with their rain boots.
I’m happy to report we are getting warmer weather this week, which will push me to go outside (and I need that so desperately).
I love little rain boots, they’re just so adorable! I definitely feel that need to get outside, the sense of cabin fever that winter brings is so real.
Jane, as a child I remember the sing-song nursery rhymes: “Rain Rain Go Away”, “It’s Raining It’s Pouring”. I am glad that your son has grown up enjoying the rain. Thanks for the poem.
It rains pretty much all year round where we live, so you either learn to live with rain, or you miss out on most the year! ;-D Pretty much only July and August are likely to be mostly dry, though even then, you never put your rain boots too far away. ;-D
Jane, your poem is so sweet and makes me think of how much I loved puddle-jumping when I was a little kiddo.
Watching my son and his classmates leap joyfully into every puddle just makes my heart so happy. <3
It’s important to embrace rainy weather, as in your poem, not complain. I’m trying to embrace the ice and snow here in New York.
But I’d prefer some rain about now.
Oooof yeah, I definitely was ready for the snow to move on, and come April I’ll definitely be ready for an end to the rain! ;-D

I actually have bright orange rain boots, and I love them to bits. 
Jane, lovely sweet post. I’m thinking of my darling 2.5 year old grandson who lives in the Pacific Northwest and loves to stomp in puddles and wear his “boops.” Your poem has a wonderful rhythm along with the rhymes.
