Quoting a Favourite – Book Blogger Hop

This week’s Book Blogger Hop prompt from The Coffee Addicted Reader is to quote our favourite authors, which is no mean feat for a life-long book lover like myself. Just as a parent might struggle to pick a favourite child (I only have one, so it isn’t quite so difficult a task for me), I don’t know that I could ever pick a favourite author. However, there is one book that will hold a very special place in my heart, and that’s Douglas Adams’ THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY.

quote1

I’m not sure how I first discovered this science fiction comedy classic, but from the very first few lines I knew that this was the book for me. You know that feeling you get when it seems like a book was written just for you? It’s a wonderful feeling, thinking that there’s at least one other person out there somehow who understands you, who thinks the way you do, who gets you. I always felt like a weird teenager – to be fair, I was a weird teenager – and I didn’t really have a lot of friends who shared or even understood my oddball assortment of interests. But this book, this wild, madcap book, suited my sensibilities so perfectly that it felt as though Adams must have written it with me in mind.

quote 4

I haven’t read THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY in years, and I wouldn’t necessarily call it my favourite book, but because of the joy and comfort it brought me in my tumultuous teen years, it will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Are there any books that have given you that “this was written just for me” feeling?

My husband introduced me to THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY in college when we were dating. I loved it and the subsequent books. Forty-two is a popular answer in our house. These books are hilarious. I love the quotes you shared! Have a great week.
