Top Ten Tuesday: Beautiful Bookmarks

November 12, 2019November 6, 2019 Jane the Raincity Librarian 11 comments

top ten tuesday (1)

For this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, we’ve been tasked with sharing ten of our favourite bookmarks.

I have a confession to share with you, in this safe online space.

I don’t use bookmarks.

I…

dog-ear my books.

I know, I know, it’s terrible. As both a librarian and an author, I of all people should know better.

The truth is that I just can’t be bothered to use bookmarks! I buy them, but I always seem to lose them somehow and can never find one when I need it.

Thus the dog-earing.

For this week’s post I’m going to instead share ten beautiful bookmarks that I would be thrilled to adorn my books with, if I were a bookmark-using individual. I found all of these bookmarks on Etsy, and have no connection to any of the sellers. With Christmas coming up, any of these bookmarks could make lovely gifts for the book lovers in your life!

Watercolour Bookmarks

bookmark1

Just look at these adorable woodland creatures! Our nursery has a woodland theme, so these bookmarks speak right to my soul.

Big Ben Bookmark

bookmark2

We spent a wonderful two weeks in London all the way back in 2009, and I would love to revisit jolly old England. I also read a lot of English mystery novels, which would suit this bookmark to a tea.

Magical Forest

bookmark3

Oh, the stories this magical woodland scene immediately inspires in me! Who is that girl, with her beautiful fox companion, and why are they wandering through this haunted woodland? I could have filled this entire list with bookmarks from the seller, their work is just so cute and lovely.

Personalized Floral Watercolour Bookmark

bookmark4

Personalized bookmarks make lovely, thoughtful gifts, especially when they’re as beautiful as this practical work of art.

Cross-stitched Cactus Bookmark

bookmark5

What a prickly little cutie! <3

Periodic Table of Elements Lasercut Bookmark

bookmark6

This clever little play-on-words is perfect for your geekiest book-loving friends. GeNiUS!

Bear on Unicycle

bookmark7

A book-reading bear in a unicycle. What a wonderful idea for a picture book…

Books and Tea

bookmark9

Two of my very favourite things, together forever. The ladies at CraftedVan make so many cute and adorable bookmarks, I just want to have them all!

Cute Cat Bookmark

bookmark10

Do you ever have that feeling that someone is watching you? 🙂

Fennec Fox

bookmark11

I just can’t believe how adorable this little fox friend is! She can mark my page any day.

Honestly, I could have kept going on and on, there are so many cute, beautiful, unique bookmarks available from crafters on Etsy. Time to get started on that Christmas shopping!

Do you use bookmarks, or are you shameful dog-earing reader like me?

    You picked gorgeous bookmarks.

And I dog ear pages occasionally, too. 🙂

There were so many to pick from, it was hard to choose! And it’s good to know I’m not alone in my bad habit. 😉

I love the detail on the Big Ben bookmark! This is why I can’t go on Etsy- there are just too many bookmarks I’d want to buy, lol!

Ugh, I know, there’s just too much temptation on Etsy!

While I myself do not dog-ear, you should not feel ashamed that you do! If they are your own books, do what them you will.

GASP! *bites knuckles* No, no, as long as they’re your books, it’s okay. I will tuck away my indignant bookwyrm. This IS a safe space, after all, I suppose.

These are some really pretty bookmark choices! I think the fennec fox is my favorite, though. It’s just too cute!

    Here’s my TTT post.

HA I know! You should see the condition of my books, you would never guess that I’m a librarian from the way they get so battered and tattered! I do treat my library books like treasured possessions, though!

*puts hand up* I dog eared a book yesterday until I found something to double as a book mark. Yeah, I lose mine ALL the time too!
