MONDAY FUNDAY – August 12, 2019

Get TALKING

Hello, friends! It’s been ages since I participated in any regular blog features, and with pretty good reason, I’d say.

I’ve managed to carve out a very rare moment for blogging (thank you, daddy!), which I’ve really quite missed! I apologize in advance if I don’t get to visit many of your blogs this week – free time is a rarity these days, and laundry and dishes are alas typically more pressing concerns!

Here’s what I’ve been reading recently!

Baby Sees FARM

We love this simple baby book! There’s great contrast, lots of black and white images (perfect for developing eyes), bold, simple text, and best of all – the pages are crinkly! Baby loves lying on his back, kicking the book and listening to the crinkling sound. I figure, hey, at least we’re building that love of books! 🤣

Where’s the Zebra?

I love this series of lift-the-flap books from Nosy Crow, and when I saw a whole bunch of different titles were available at my local Costco, I just couldn’t resist! The illustrations are charming, the text is simple and repetitive, the felt flaps add a nice textural element (and are quite durable), and there’s even a mirror for babies to stare into!

Pashmina

I really enjoyed this graphic novel, which follows a teenage Indian-American girl who finds a magic pashmina that belongs to her mother. She must discover the story behind the enchanted fabric, and in so doing learns about herself, her culture and her family, and deepens her bond with her mother. Highly recommended!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

What can I say about this book that hasn’t already been said? It’s a classic for a reason, and is one of the first books I bought for baby’s library.

And there you have it – my triumphant return to Monday blogging! Will I be able to keep the momentum going? Probably not. 🤣 But that’s ok!

Have a great week, everyone!

Awww. Congratulations! Definitely good reason to skip out on blogging!! Love your selection of books this week. And I agree on Brown Bear, Brown Bear — one of my kids’ favorites, still to this day. Have a great week, Jane!

Thank you! It’s true what they say, the days are long but the years are short – we’re already over three months in, and I can’t believe it! Already building quite a little bookshelf for our wee one. 🙂
