Poetry Friday : Elephants Remember

December 29, 2017 Jane the Raincity Librarian 30 comments

poetry-1

There really isn’t much of a story behind today’s poem – to be honest, sometimes poems just sort of pop into my head, nearly fully formed, and all I have to do is write them down!

And so, I offer for your enjoyment, a short but sweet little ditty which I have creatively titled Elephants Remember.

Have a great weekend, and a very happy new year!

Me too! Elephants are just so special, you look in their big brown eyes and you just know that there’s an intelligence in there, and a real heart.

How lovely to have a poem pop into your head neatly formed! I’m so glad that you, elephant-like, remembered it, wrote it down, and shared it here. These days I wish I could channel some elephant memory!

That’s the challenge – I so often have these great ideas in the middle of the night, only to have them dance away before the morning!

Enjoyed your poem! At my elderly age, I wish I had the memory of an elephant.

Such a fun poem! There are days I could use to have a little of the elephant’s memory even though spelling tests are long behind me!

The real question is, do elephants have a nice full toolbox of phonics knowledge that allows them to sound out words well enough to communicate their authentic observations and express their emotional engagement with the world? Because that’s what really matters. : )

Happy New Year, Jane–wishing you a year of fully-formed popping!

You know, they probably do, in their own elephant way! They truly are a special species.

And alas, most of my poems don’t come nearly as easily or naturally….but hey, maybe in 2018! 😀

Wonderful Elephant ditty Jane! I love elephants. This sounds like it would be perfect in a book–hope it makes it there sometime, thanks!

    Happy New Year!
