My oh my, it is unusually hot, dry and smoggy here in Raincity! It’s been weeks since we last had rainfall, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I actually miss it! I’ve been thinking ruefully about those grey, soggy days when I looked out the window and dreamed of sunny summer days, and wished that summer didn’t ever have to end.
Well, as the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for!

P.S. For my non-Raincity friends, this is a Skytrain! I take one every day as part of my commute. The older trains aren’t air conditioned and have plastic seats, which makes for a rather sticky summer ride!

Thankfully we’ve been spared the forest fires down in my part of the province, but for about a week we couldn’t see the sky due to all the smoke blowing in from the rest of the province! We could all use some rain in these parts!

Wonderful, and I know you’ve talked about the rain before, now endless sun and dry (like we have in Denver) & that unusual weather doesn’t work. A checker at the store yesterday told me he was tired of the grey (which we’ve had off & on just for about 5 days). We are all acclimated for what we expect. Your poet showed it perfectly, Jane!
So true! Here in the Pacific Northwest we are not at all designed for extreme temperatures! Anything too hot or too cold and we completely fall apart!

I’ve heard Europe is in a heatwave, too. It’s much harder to bear if it’s outside the norm. Your poem is very clever with its fun rhyming.
This year has been such a strange one, weather-wise. We’re normally very temperate here, with temperatures that don’t range too wildly, but this year we’ve had heaps of snow, and weeks of heat! We’re too wimpy for this kind of weather!
Thanks for your lighthearted look at the weather. Here in Maine this summer, we seem to alternate between beautiful sun and then clouds releasing buckets of water all in the same day. It’s a healthy balance but torrential rain has been rather foreign to us. No longer!

Thankfully the newer trains have air conditioning – slowly, slowly those old, 30-year-old trains are being replaced, and with them the icky sticky seats!
