Poetry Friday – Cheese!

July 14, 2017 Jane the Raincity Librarian 30 comments

Friday is National Macaroni and Cheese Day, and to celebrate there will be cheesy poems sprinkled throughout the Poetry Friday community! I can’t wait to see what other delicious poetry my poetry friends will have whipped up!

I’m pitching in with a cheesy little nugget from W. H. Auden, which just happens to be both about cheese and poetry (there’s no macaroni present, but hey, two outta three ‘aint bad).

A poet’s hope: to be,
like some valley cheese,
local, but prized elsewhere.

Here’s hoping we all achieve such lofty goals!

From one cheese (and poetry) lover to another, happy Friday, everyone!

I love the film Ratatouille because it is just such an unabashed celebration of good food, and as someone who loves to eat, I can relate! 🙂

Who, but you Jane, could know that Auden mixed some curds way into his poetry tray? Wonderful!

Ha! This reminds me of the adage about not being celebrated in one’s own country… to think of it this way, as a hope… i like it! Thank you!

I can’t get over the cheesy bliss on that second mouse’s face!

Auden packed some big truth into those three lines!

Love the GIFT and the wisdom of poetry and cheese from Auden. Two out of three is just about right in this case!

Ha! This is so true. Local writers are very underrated for conferences and such. It’s has if leaving town somehow makes you a better writer.
