With summer winding down and weekly story times starting up again soon, it’s time for me to get caught up on my picture books. Here’s a new one that would be a wonderful addition to babytime.

My Two Cents: Bunny Roo, I Love You is visually stunning. I’ll admit I’m a sucker for beautiful illustrations, and newcomer Teagan White does not disappoint – her vintage (perhaps even hipster)-inspired characters just tug at the heartstrings. I even love the watercolour-inspired text font. This is definitely a picture written with adults, rather than children, in mind. Older children might find the symbolic text confusing (“the baby turns into a kangaroo?”) or even boring, but caregivers will likely lap it up. Did I mention I love these illustrations? I would even hang prints from this book on my wall. Love. Bunny Roo would make a lovely baby shower gift, and I’d certainly introduce it to the caregivers in my baby times as a gentle bed time baby read-aloud that celebrates the bonds between mothers (of all kinds) and their babies.
Oh, this will be a must read for me! Illustrations are KEY to my loving a book. I am a retired teacher and children’s librarian, now tutor, so am delighted to find you. Your part of the world is lovely too! I went to BC twice, once in the Spring camping on Vancouver Island, and then skied at Banff and Lake Louise one very cold and beautiful winter.

I love connecting with other children’s literature and literacy lovers – I have discovered so many new books through the blogs I’ve found! Illustrations are really so important, aren’t they, especially in a picture book where they can add so much to a simple text. Banff and Lake Louise are such stunning locations, though I will admit I’m not all that good at skiing…. 
I really like illustrations that have that have a vintage feel. Nancy Paulson has the best eye for books – I love so many that she publishes.
She really does – it’s inspiring to find publishing houses that value quality, and not just quantity, when it comes to the works they publish.
It looks like a book that will have adults eager to find someone to read it to.
It’s definitely a sweet one, and it would work for grandmas, foster mums and adoptive mums, too, which makes it a really nice inclusive picture book.
