Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the bookishly inclined team over at The Broke and the Bookish.
This week I’m sharing ten books that I’m currently waiting eagerly to get my hands on. It’s a bit of a mixed-bag this week, with adult fiction and nonfiction mingling with picture books and poetry collections, so hopefully there’s a little something for everyone on this list!
March by Geraldine Brooks: This Pulitzer-prize winning novel explores and fleshes out the patriarch of the March family, protagonists of Louisa May Alcott’s classic Little Women. I enjoyed Brooks’ Year of Wonders, so I have high hopes for this one.
Belgravia by Julian Fellowes: From the creator of Downtown Abbey comes this novel of 1840s upper-crust England, which promises to be an entertaining glimpse into a glittering world, riddled with secrets. Delectable.
One Minute to Bedtime edited by Kenn Nesbitt: I am so excited to get my hands on a copy of this collection of brief bedtime poems from a range of brilliantly talented, creative poets.
I Heart You by Meg Fleming: This poetic debut picture book looks absolutely stunning, and I can’t wait to explore the beautiful illustrations and share this sweet story with babies and caregivers.
The Sound of Silence by Katrino Goldsaito: Tokyo is one of my favourite cities in the world, and I can’t wait to follow along with Yoshio as he explores this bustling city in search of the most beautiful sound of all.
How to Find a Fox by Nilah Magruder: A plucky little explorer sets off to track down a fox, but foxes are wily little characters. This debut picture books looks like a lot of fun!
Do Not Bring Your Dragon to the Library by Julie Glassman: Libraries and dragons, what not to love? I can’t wait for this one!
Forest Mage by Robin Hobb: I’m currently working my way through Shaman’s Crossing, the first book in the Soldier Son trilogy. I’m only a chapter in, but I’m really enjoying it, so I’ve already put a hold on the second book in the series!
The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer: Georgette Heyer was one of the pioneers of the Regency-era historical fiction romance, and remains one of the real stars of the genre. Looking forward to a fun, romantic read.
Some Writer! by Melissa Sweet: This biography of Charlotte’s Web author E. B. White has been popping up everywhere on the children’s book blogs I follow, and having read and loved Charlotte’s Web since childhood I cannot wait to learn more about the writer behind this classic and much-beloved book.

I am looking forward to reading Belgravia. A friend of mine said it was really good. I am planning to read it at Christmas time. That dinosaur book looks really cute! I will have to see if our children’s librarian ordered a copy of Some Writer! for the collection.
I have been in a real historical fiction mood recently, so Belgravia definitely sounds right up my alley!
I am wild for Some Writer!, so much so that I sent my ARC of it to a book friend in Australia, despite the extraordinarily high cost of mailing there.

Bel;gravia looks good, I loved Gosford Park which he wrote or co-wrote I believe. an older movie (around 2000 I think) but a good one! And I like Robin Hobb’s stuff, although I haven’t read this series.
Oh! I watched Gosford Park years ago, I didn’t realize Julian Fellowes was involved in that! Makes sense, though. 🙂

Our library finally, finally, finally got Some Writer, but it’s already been checked out. Hopefully by Some Reader who returns books promptly.
I’m waiting, waiting, waiting! I’m always torn when a book I want is checked out – I’m frustrated, but so glad that other people are enjoying it. 🙂
I remember putting March on my want-to-read list a while back, and Some Writer as well. I need to check to see if either has appeared at the library yet. And Don’t Take Your Dragon to the Library is really cute, though it has a few rhythmic hiccups. I’ll have to look into some of the other picture books, too; I enjoy a good picture book now and then. 🙂
Hmmm…I can be pretty picky about my rhyming texts, so I’ll have to see how Don’t Take Your Dragon to the Library fares as a read-aloud.

Do Not Bring Your Dragon to the Library looks like a hoot. I definitely will have to by my library a copy of that. I’ve seen really favorable reviews on the E.B. White book, so I am putting that one on my TBR. Great list of choices. I hope all of them are really enjoyable.

Those picture books look delightful! Especially I Heart You. I need to check that one out for my little ones.
These are all unfamiliar to me, but your picture book selections look really cute. I never look at those at the store anymore (because I have no reason too), but once in a while I do look at mine from childhood. Purely for nostalgia’s sake. 🙂
